Friday 5:57 pm. First sight of the bridge on arrival, showing its majesty at once in the soft glow of twilight. Dusk gathers and the first glow of its illumination licks the pylon’s inner side.

Friday 9:27 pm. Night has fallen and the bridge is now illuminated fully. Colored light is used only on special occasions. Just for this evening the color of the led- lighting had been shifted to magenta, to raise sympathy for the suffering of preemies (premature babies).

Saturday (1:22 pm. The next day the weather was rough with a strong wind and an overcast sky. The hurrying clouds leave loopholes for flashes of sunlight letting the white pylon shine for a moment, just enough to capture a quick shot.

1:23 pm. One minute later clouds hide the sun again. The bridge -almost without traffic- stands out against a threatening sky in amber-colored light.

5:58 p. Another picture taken when the night is falling, but what a difference with the day before at the same time (see first picture). Here we seem to deal almost literally with ‘the blue hour’, under a clouded instead of a clear sky. The lighting of the bridge has been switched back to the regular white.

6:51 pm. About one hour later we find the bridge in a considerably rougher atmosphere. It is after sunset now and a heavy rain has started to fall. People coming back from weekend shopping cram the deck with traffic.

Here we see the whole picture. A white fog is formed where the bridge’s illumination reflects against the raindrops.

Sunday 10:40 a. Final view of the now deserted bridge showered by rain under a typical Dutch sky, colored by soft tints of white, grey and blue.
