Contraversão (Contra version) is the result of a university work of the young photographer from south of Brazil Verônica Marques Martins. Vegetarian since the age of 12, Veronica decided to use her photography as an activism in a society that cultivates the consumption of meat and the submission of animals. The intention is to provoke the experience of empathy by putting herself naked in situations that mimic the treatment given to animals at the time of slaughter. The series has no more than seven shots that form a set of self-portraits in an indigestible narrative about human indifference in the face of animal suffering. The images made with tripod, timer and, in some situations, with the help of her parents realize a discomfort that becomes more visible and relevant.
