Istiklal Caddesi is within the borders of Beyoğlu, one of the oldest districts of Istanbul. The 1.5-kilometer-long street always stands out with its cosmopolitan community. Art galleries, historic cinemas and theaters, cafes, restaurants and houses of worship draw heavy attention. Although the street has seen better days, it is still one of the first places visited in Istanbul.
''Istiklal Caddesi'', which underwent changes throughout its history, has always managed to rise from its ashes. Beyoglu is a whole with its streets, squares, historical buildings and back-alleys. In order to be able to see the cosmopolitan community, the district should be regarded as a whole.
Various protests, movements, manifestations, public statements and similar activities are held on these streets and areas.
It is one of the rare places that nearly every person is from a different country, from a different culture. Different houses of worship are visited by many different people, which in return -combined with the touristic nature of the district- creates a highly diverse community. And this series of photographs will introduce you to certain members of this community
