I am interested in the camera as a tool for abstraction. While working with macro photography I have learned how to find painterly images in the areas where light and object meet. In this body of work, I look for compositions and juxtapositions of shape and color to capture as abstract images. To do this, I am playing with the optical properties of light waves using macro photography and sometimes found objects as filters to capture distortions in rays of light as they hit and bounce off of surfaces. This close-up view into the workings of light rays allows me to reveal the unseen characteristics and movements of the light that surrounds us every day.
These images leave me wondering what they are communicating to us about the nature of our existence?
