“The animal is thought as something faceless, another of the man, a being devoid of language. His silence denies the possibility of response and the ability to be named. It is man who has given the name to animal”
Jaques Derrida
The L'animot project analyses the otherness of the animals basing on the construction about the concept we have of them in western culture. These faceless beings, devoid of any language or sense of self-representation are understood as entities we dominate and use according to our needs and convenience.
Can we understand the animal by preserving its strangeness, its otherness, and respecting its differences without expecting us to acquaint or own it as knowledge or as an available good?
