Born in New York City and based in Sydney, Sasha Mishkin is an artist working across photography, video and installation. She holds a Bachelor of Art from Hampshire College and a Masters of Art from the University of New South Wales Art and Design. She is fascinated by the performative aspects of identity and how they manifest within the photographic portrait. With a foundation in documentary photography, her projects explore portraiture as a social practice underpinned by interaction and collaboration between photographer and subject. She was a semi-finalist in the 2019 and 2020 Head On Portrait Prize and a recipient of the Arc @ UNSW Art and Design Grant for her joint immersive installation in the 2017 Sydney Fringe Festival. She has exhibited in Sydney, New York, Massachusetts, and Havana.
