About Shan Cao

For me photography is as a poetry. It's a media to talk about philosophy, sexuality and psychology. I took photos of regular things in unusual places, or unusual things in regular places. I indulge myself in the uncertainty and ambiguity of existence. I don’t care if it’s well exposed or accurately focused as long as the feeling is right. The perfection of technique makes me uncomfortable. That’s why I insist on using films and develop them myself. So my photos are rather sensitive and private.
