Yangkun Shi was born in 1991, Henan province, China. He graduated from University of the Arts London with a master degree of Documentary Photography in 2016. He is a visual practitioner whose work explores the experiential narratives of documentary and fiction.
His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, such as the Shanghai Center of Photography, Dunedin Fine Art Center, and Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. His work has been featured in TIME, Feature Shoot, and South China Morning Post.
His production has received many awards including PHMuseum Photography Grant, PDN Emerging Photographer, and UrbanPhotoFest Open. He is a fellow of the Magnum Foundation in 2019.
