I am living and working on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. I am an avid photographer with my main legacy likely to be the intimate and artful documentation of my growing family. However, my especial interest lies with landscape photography. The South Island is impressive in the grandeur and variety of its terrain and I do much exploring when moving around with the family on holidays and trips. The West coast where I live is rugged and sparsely populated with a powerful sea crashing in on a land of rivers, mountains and glaciers.
I make art. I am not trying to take that perfect HDR shot of an iconic peak or sunset. There is a lot of that stuff around. I am opportunistic and take often humble landscapes juxtaposing elements to create a displaced feeling of familiarity and a mood dictated by palette and compositional elements. Beautiful and painterly, sometimes odd and abstract but aesthetically and artistically integrous.
