About Tommaso Sacconi

Tommaso Sacconi is a photographer and filmmaker based in New York.
He trained in architecture at Sapienza University of Rome and holds a Master’s degree from the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya.

After completing his studies, he moved to Egypt, where he collaborated with an NGO, developing a method grounded in analysis and documentation.

Between 2017 and 2021, he co-directed the feature documentary Grain: Analog Renaissance (81’), which premiered at the DOC NYC festival in 2021.

His photographic projects unfold over time through a serial logic, in which research and repetition form the core of his work. Among these, Therapy, initiated in 2010, marks the beginning of a practice based on processes of accumulation, repetition, and systematic observation, with particular attention to everyday objects and disposable materials.

Since 2015, he has been working on Portinerie Romane, a project investigating the portineria as an architectural, social, and symbolic space, articulated through a typological approach and developed over time as a long-term research.

His work has been published and exhibited in events such as Fotofocus (2026), Combat Prize (2025) Royal Photographic Society (2024); 'Sony World Photography Award' (2023); 'Paratissima' (2023); 'Der Greif' (2023) and 'Arte Laguna Prize' (2021).
