Torrance York earned an MFA in photography from Rhode Island School of Design and a BA from Yale. An artist and educator she has earned awards for her photography including a Connecticut Artist Fellowship grant from the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism in 2010. As the winner of the IMAGES 2013 photography exhibition at the Fairfield Museum and History Center she exhibited her portrait work, Traces, at Southport Galleries.
She has exhibited in solo shows locally and nationally. Her work is included in the collections of Alliance Bernstein, Rhode Island School of Design, John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods, and James Dayton Design among others.
York was a resident artist at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, Colorado in 1994. She serves on the Board of the Educational Video Center in NYC where she formerly taught docu- mentary video. She is an Artist Guild Member of Silvermine Arts Center. Her photography is represented in New York City by Littlejohn Contemporary.
