About Wes Bell
Born and raised in Alberta, Canada, Wes pursued a studio intensive program at the Alberta College of Art and Design, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Photography.
After a long and successful career in fashion photography, Wes returned three years ago to live in Alberta, Canada after residing and in Milan, Italy and New York. He continues to photograph in the studio and on location responding to the natural beauty in both his subjects and the objects that he photographs and in the detail in the environments that surround him. The scenes that he is most attracted to are simple and ordinary.
His commitment and passion for art photography has been re-energized. He is currently working on a solo exhibition and book project entitled, On the Line. It includes five inter-related series: Lost for Words, Final Steps, Rapt, Snag and In Plain Site.
In 2017, Bell received a LensCulture Exposure Jurist Award for his series Snag, selected by MaryAnne Golon, Photography Director at The Washington Post. The series also received the 2017 Bronze Award for the Royal Photographic Society I60 International Exhibition in London, UK.
