Irmina Walczak and Sávio Freire are Polish-Brazilian couple of photographers and educators. Irmina is graduated in Latin America Cultural Studies and PhD in Social Sciences. Sávio is graduated in Business and had developed his professional practice in the area of solidarity economy at the University of Brasília. In 2011, they turned their interest into photography and started exploring family relationships, intimacy and daily life aspects. They study and successively deepen the condition of the child in contemporary society and its corporeality. They have developed a body of work about childhood free of technology that was published in 2016 in Brazil under the title “Retratos pra Yayá”/Portraits for Yayá. They were the FotoFestiwal in Łódź finalists (2021), the Meitar Award for Excellence in Photography finalists (2020), the Head On Portrait Prize winners (2018) and the LensCulture Portrait Award finalists (2016).
