Martin Venezky is a graphic designer, professor, and photographer whose interest in process and abstraction has informed his recent investigations into the camera as a generative tool. He has produced large-scale photo installations for Adobe Systems and the San Francisco Arts Commission as well as academies and corporate headquarters.

Venezky’s photography is a parallel practice to his career in graphic design, specializing in experimental typography and book design. SFMOMA honored Venezky with a 2001 solo exhibition, and his monograph, It Is Beautiful...Then Gone, was published by Princeton Archtectural Press. Throughout his career, Venezky has used photography as a vital tool in his design work.

Venezky earned a BA in Visual Studies from Dartmouth College in 1979 and an MFA in Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1993. He is currently Professor in the MFA Design Program at CCA in San Francisco where he has taught for over 25 years.
