Javier Malagón

Javier Malagón is a documentary photographer based in Bogotá, Colombia. His work explores the daily lives and informal economies of urban Latin America — the street vendors, communities, and spaces that sustain cities while remaining on the margins of official life. He studied Architecture at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and holds a Master's in Artistic Photography from the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (UNIR), Spain. He has worked across Colombia, Mexico, and Central America, documenting social protest, displacement, public ceremony, and the textures of everyday existence in places undergoing rapid change. His long-term project Ambulantes — seven years of proximity to the street vendors of Bogotá — is part of a broader practice built on sustained presence: returning to the same places, through the same routines, until the work becomes indistinguishable from the life around it.
