About Loredana Denicola

Loredana Denicola is a documentary photographer and multidisciplinary visual artist working across photography, video, and writing to explore identity, human relationships, and perception.

Her practice is rooted in direct encounters with people. Through intimate conversations, interviews, and real-life meetings, she transforms lived experiences into visual and narrative work. For Denicola, the camera is not simply a recording device but a relational tool that creates trust, listening, and awareness.

Her research focuses on gender identity, love, sexuality, emotion, and the social construction of the self.
She develops long-term projects where photography and video create spaces for reflection on human experience. Love, Sex and Relationships brings together over forty hours of interviews with individuals and couples from diverse cultural backgrounds, later developed into visual and written works. In The Theatre of the Mind, created in London, people encountered in the street become protagonists in a visual inquiry into the roles we perform in everyday life and the fluid boundary between reality and perception.

Her work exists at the intersection of documentation and performance, testimony and narrative construction, where the image becomes a space for dialogue, care, and collective awareness.

Denicola has worked between Italy and the United Kingdom, developing artistic, documentary, and experimental projects that combine documentary rigor with a poetic sensibility.
